5 Things To Always Remember While On Your Small Business Journey

If you’re reading this, that means that you’re about ready to launch a business or have already taken the leap towards your small business dreams – congrats!

Whether you are 1 year or 10 years in, more than likely you’ve been through a rollercoaster of emotions. Some days the journey feels effortless, sales are better than ever, and engagement is at an all-time high. Then, in what seems like a blink of an eye, you’re ready to throw in the towel. I’ve been there. More times than I’d like to admit.

Regardless of where you are in your journey, here are 5 things to always remember to help you navigate small business ownership…

  1. Be Authentic: Show up as YOU every. single. day. Not who you think you should be, who your competitor is, or who you think Linda from your hometown wants to see…but YOU! There may be others doing the same thing as your small business, but they aren’t YOU, and that’s the differentiator.
  1. Community > Competition: Your small business will not be for everyone, and that is OK. Some of your biggest supporters will not be your friends + family, they will be strangers on the internet that you’ve never met in real life. You’ll build a community of people who will give you more motivation and drive than any competition could. Lean into these people. Keep them close. They are your biggest fans and will cheer the loudest when you need it.
  1. Flow With the Ebbs: Not every day will be a good day. In fact, you may find yourself in a season where more days than not feel really hard. Don’t force anything: content, relationships, sales, or things that isn’t an immediate YES. Flow with it all. If it feels right, do it. If not, let is pass. Go with your gut.
  1. Mindset Matters: Will you feel positive every single day? Heck no – that’s not possible in life. You can, however, focus on what is going well versus what isn’t and really lean into that mindset on those hard days. Never forget whether you think you can or think you can’t, YOU ARE RIGHT. So why not believe this will work out for you?
  1. Remember Your WHY: It’s ok to rest, take breaks, and give yourself some space when you feel overwhelmed. Justs don’t give up! Remember WHY you started and focus on that when you need a little extra motivation. At the end of the day, you’re doing this for YOU, no one else – so show up for yourself. You can do this! I just know you can.

BONUS #6: HAVE FUN: Whether this is your full-time job or a fun hobby right now, have fun with it. This shouldn’t be a stressful thing that sucks the joy out of life. Enjoy the journey, it’s really a pretty cool one.

I’m not like other coaches because I’m not a coach…or expert…or guru.

But here’s what you should REALLY know:
